Mainstage Season
2013-2014
A Season of Facing Demons
Americans have difficulty facing crisis. Our president is unable to close Guantanamo five years after his promise, even as over 100 prisoners are force-fed to thwart their hunger strike. The Senate fails to pass a gun control measure even as massacres mount. This is not a recent phenomenon. Ronald Reagan won the election by telling Americans that our country is a shining city on a hill. Denial is a river that flows through the American gene pool. This season explores the question: How do we face what we fear?
